I'm Mikala. I've been behind the chair for nearly 19 years, and somewhere along the way it became clear that hair was never really just hair.
True North Artistry holds three bodies of work: hair artistry, one-on-one mentoring and ELEVATED.

The chair is where it started, and it's still where a lot of the real work happens.
I specialize in gray coverage, lived-in color, and hidden row extensions, working out of 1213 Studio in Plaza Midwood, Charlotte, NC , a collective of independent stylists with good light, real plants, and art on every wall.
Nearly 19 years in, I've noticed that the women who find their way to my chair aren't just looking for a stylist. They're looking for someone who pays attention. That's what you'll get here.
ELEVATED
ELEVATED is a live experience I host in Charlotte, NC, an evening of music, journaling, and connection.
A space to reconnect with yourself, meet new people, and explore what's possible when you start loving yourself more.
A DJ sets the tone. I guide the experience from beginning to end.

THRESHOLD
A 2-month mentorship.
I've noticed that the people who find their way here aren't starting from scratch.
They already know what they want. They can feel how close they are to it, and yet something keeps showing up between them and the version of their life they know is possible.
A pattern that repeats, a habit that lingers, a voice that gets loud right when things start to move.
It doesn't have to be complicated to shift.
THRESHOLD is two months of that work in action. For the person who's done enough to know they're close, who has the vision and the willingness to stop getting in their own way and start moving like they actually believe it.
